AMIR SHINGRAY

AMIR SHINGRAY

AMIR SHINGRAY  (1962, Sudan)

The first day of the New Media Art Class, Sudanese - Canadian Amir Shingray  became our guest.

For us, to understand his works, firstly he shortly went through his life story.

Shingray left his country in 1984 because of the political and other problems in the country.

He is interested in history and many of his works that he shared with us include history of Sudan.

This is one of his works that emotionaly destructs me. The work is called 'Nation Building'. Sudan became independent in 1956 and this works refers to the violence that was experienced in Sudan during English dominion. It examplifies the execution of people.

This is the another work of Shingray I really love. It refers to his abandonment of his country.

I would like to say that  with Shingray it was an awesome start for the New Media classes of this semester.

Thanks a lot to Amir Shingray for such a nice talk and Thanks a lot to our amazing professor Genco Gülan to invite him.
